Frequently asked questions
What types of knives and tools can you sharpen?
Our professional sharpening service works on many types of blades and cutting tools, including:
-Kitchen knives (chef knives, paring knives, santoku, gyuto, ect.)
-Pocket knives and folding knives
-Hunting and outdoor knives
-Utility knives
-Certain yard and garden tools
-Some swords and large blades
If you are unsure whether your blade can be sharpened, feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Is mail-in knife sharpening safe?
Yes. Mail-in knife sharpening services are a safe and popular option. Knives can be securely packaged using cardboard, blade gaurds, or protective sleeves to prevent damage during shipping. Proper packaging protects the knives and the shipping carrier.
Will professional sharpening remove a lot of metal from my knife?
No. Professional knife sharpening removes only a very small amount of metal in order to restore the cutting edge. The goal is to refine the edge while preserving the life and shape of the blade.
How often should knives be professionally sharpened?
There is no time-frame. You need to get your knives professionally sharpened when cutting with the knife becomes strenuous.
Can dull or damaged knives be sharpened?
Yes. Most dull knives can be fully restored through professional knife sharpening. In many cases, minor issues such as slightly rolled edges or small chips can be corrected during the sharpening process.
However, severely damaged knives may require blade repair rather than standard sharpening. Large chips, broken tips, or significant edge damage often need additional work to restore the blade properly.
If your knife has major damage, we recommend contacting us so we can determine the best solution.
