2x48 Sharpening Belts

Running a 2x48? You get the width of a 2-inch belt with extra length for cooler cutting and longer belt life. Every belt here is one I use in the Get Sharp shop on real customer knives, and they fit any standard 2" x 48" belt grinder, including the Kalamazoo BG248.

Not sure where to start? Here's my progression:

  1. Prep the blade: Scotch-Brite to lay down a satin finish, hide unsightly scratches, and ease the spine and other sharp 90° corners.
  2. Reprofile & repair: Cubitron II or MagnaPeak ceramic for chips, broken tips, and new bevels.
  3. Set the edge: 3M Trizact A45 → A30 for a clean apex with a minimal burr.
  4. Finish: A felt stropping belt, a paper wheel, or a leather belt or wheel, depending on the steel.
